Mineral Barite
Chemical Formula: BaSO4 (Barium Sulfate)
Barite or barium sulfate is a non-metallic mineral of high specific gravity, key in the composition of drilling fluids as a densifying agent; can be used to obtain densities of up to 22 lb.
Barite is chemically inert and relatively insoluble, such that it does not cause reactions between the product and other chemical additives or contaminants.
The API specification for the specific gravity of the barite is at least from 4.1 to 4.25 gr/ cm3.
